The Donovan-Cole challenge

the bbc write up on his injury said that it was accidental, no malice

defo 50/50......i've been out injured for a month from a 50/50, no foul though, so they can obviously happen

donovan is just more commited and obviously harder in the tackle....which sounded weird typing....(y)

Thought I'd post the pic here.

Oh what a fab pic. I think DM is shouting something like
"Go on Landon, smash him lad"

Ha ha, nah on a serious note though, i would love to see Baines play in the World cup. Bridge is no way a better player, and i wouldn't risk taking him. I personally believe it would cause some unease in the camp. Plus just imagine, Gerrard says to Bridge one night "the kids not yours either?" and Bridge goes on a mad one and goes bonkers on Terry, and kills him.
Right no more booze or input from me tonight!

By the way well done Landon lad!

I know a lot of you guys know about this but there is a reason that Landon does not go hard on challenges, when he was a U-18 or 17 he went for a ball 50/50 the Trinidad and Tobago player went head first in to Donovan. Donovan got up, but the T&T player never got up, he broke his neck, Donovan walked away with a broken rib. The player died three years later. That is why I hate it when people call him landycakes, I don't think I would ever go hard on a challenge ever again.

Is this true? What was the guy's name?

WHAT?!?!? I never knew this about Landon Donovan and this with the Trinidad player! You learn something every day, even when you think you know it all, you don't. Sad story on the Trinidad player.

Yer, I found this when I looked up his name. Really sad story that. :(
The whole story is sad,and that is why I really hate the name Landycakes it does the man a disservice. I also think that is why he had such a hard time of it at Bayer Leverkusen, that is alot for a teenager to take.

Ball, Wright, Labone, Newton. Mexico 1970. They went and came back completely f*c*ed.

And that's without mentioning Rooney and Lescott whose international careers aided their early exit from Goodison.

The fewer Everton players who go anywhere near that nest of overpaid, overhyped prima donnas the better imo.

And can anyone on here say that they could support a team containing that cheating filth Gerrard???

I hate him with a passion but just about tolerate him when he's in an England shirt

As for the tackle, it's a no-brainer, complete accident and absolutely nothing malicious about it at all. But you know what the gutter press tabloids are like - makes a good story because of the England USA game
