I'm with you mate, nice song which was well put together. Great concert that projection was amazing, apart from the french flag boo boo.

Ha that's what I though. WTF IS THE TRICOLOUR DOING ON BUCKINGHAM PALACE?! But it's actually the wrong way round so we're ok.

You look on all those 'best bands/albums' lists and Britain has loads of entries, yet none of them were playing in this crappy concert. Horrible middle of the road/Saturday night/The Voice style pap.

Yeah, that Paul McCartney's a nobody.

It's got to be that way, what do you want them to do, have the Queen listen to Rage Against the Machine? They've got to just have popular acts when playing to the entire country. Everyone would switch off if all the bands from the 'what are you listening to?' thread turned up.

Have to confess I didn't make it to the end so missed McCartney. I suppose the issue is that so many of our best musical acts are/were very anti-establishment, so it'd be weird having them perform at something like that. When we've produced the likes of the Stones, Who, Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Sex Pistols, Smiths, Radiohead etc. it was a pretty weak lineup with none of them present. Much as I love the Beatles music McCartney is pretty establishment now and went soft after he left the band, what with Mull of Kintyre and the Frog Chorus stuff. Hardly pushing the envelope. Can't imagine Lennon at something like that.

As you rightly say though, it had to appeal to the whole country, and right now the stuff churned out on X Factor and their ilk are what's popular. Personally I think it's the biggest load of **** on television. But then I'm very anti-monarchy (nothing personal against the Queen like), so the whole weekend was not my cup of tea.
