Sorry pal. I can see where you are coming from but I just don't agree.
The whole point of squad training sessions are so the full team (not just starting XI) can learn to play together. Squads should be able to rotate players in all positions and be able to adapt to their strengths and weaknesses. That's why we employ coaches and managers, to create fluid, manageable tactics than use squad depth to navigate injury problems.
Granted most teams have a strongest XI, but only the really lucky ones get to play an unchanged XI for most of the season. Everyone else has to contend with injuries/suspensions/drops in form.
Squad depth is a good thing. It just has to be managed correctly.
