Will never understand this attitude tbh.

It may be a 'two bob' Cup, but it's more than we've won in fifteen years. I think the majority of fans would be pretty pi**ed off if we fielded a team with about 3 real senior players in.

If it was a genuine knockout cup it would be superb. The Cup Winners Cup was a great competition..

I think it needs to be shorter. Ties just over the two-legs would actually help the lesser teams out ? An actual chance of winning the thing ?

The main reason no-one takes it seriously is the money isn't it? Making the prize per match the same value as the Champions League, but cutting the number of games so it's shorter, would be a fairly reasonable way of making at least some teams take it more seriously.

Tbh i think it's a myth that people don't take it seriously.

Noharmdone is right on this one, mate. If it's pure knockout weaker teams are more likely to go further.

And making it shorter is a step in the right direction too, because it is just too many games right now. The best way to make it more prestigous is to get rid of the CL knockouts joining it and reduce the size of the Cl so better teams end up in the europa.

I'm not sure what you mean by your first sentence because nobody was arguing that :huh:

And the latter part wouldn't really make it more prestigious, you'd still end up playing the same level of opposition. If anything you might play less games and have an easier run to the final, thus making it the opposite of more prestigious.

I still want those teams in the competition, though. I just don't want them to get into it by losing games.

But if they did that we'd most likely never have a chance of getting in the thing in the first place, and it would just make the CL less exciting because you'd have a smaller variety of teams entering it.

The old system was always better before this champions league money making shizz..... European Cup, UEFA Cup and the cup winners cup. All prestigious trophies to win in their day.

They're doing enough to get through, though. Top of their group and everything.

Honestly if people wouldn't get excited about the Europa League or the League Cup (another thing people call mickey mouse) then i don't understand how they get excited about PL games every week. After all, we're competing for nothing but 6th-8th in the league each year at the moment, no chance of winning anything.
