The Broadstreet Bullies

The Philidelphia Flyers were a team reknowned for their physicality. They'd mix it with anyone. They were christened "The Broadstreet Bullies"

I think we're sorely lacking some much needed steel at the moment

We're in a Dog Fight, so it's time to start fighting

We need our own version of the Bully mentality. We need to start taking it to teams.

We're far too nice.

We need teams to shudder at the thought of playing us, because they know they're in for physicality

We need to start by playing McCarthy and Besic in the middle as soon as McCarthy is back to full fitness

I know the usual suspects will be appalled at this. Look, lovely looking football is great when you're up the table, but when you're in the relegation fight you need to start picking up points.

Back in the 90's, Joe Royle unleashed "The Dogs of War", it's now time for Martinez to send "The Bullens Road Bullies" into battle so that we can fight our way to survival. We can get back to nice togger next season, right now it's kill or be killed and nice guys finish last

Funny thread to see on here. It has some merit and can be effective, but can also build a reputation that can harm you down the live with officials. Shame the Flyers totally suck right now.

Siege mentality only works when all the players buy into it. There's a few players (the ones who probably aren't best suited skill/speed wise) who have never really bought in fully. They started to believe last year because of the results but with the injuries and luck this season it becomes the excuse for bad performances.

I think this week in Qatar will be a defining point in our season. Hopefully, we can rebond and refocuss.

Spot on. Hockey, in the days of the Bullies, resembles nothing of modern football as well. That philosophy is dead in hockey now too.

We've got a manager who wants us to play like Barcelona with the likes of Jagielka and Naismith in the team. The man is an idealist knobhead living in a fantasy world. While I agree with everything you said, we're clearly not up for a physical scrap

Not another defining point..so far there's been one of these for every match since about October
