Disney/Spielberg doing a CGI/live action BFG.

I am simultaneously excited, but terrified. Roald Dahl is my favorite story teller, and to be honest, his books haven't been represented well in film, it all seems a bit hit or miss.

James and the Giant Peach, Danny the Champion of the World, The BFG cartoon, Matilda and the majority of the Witches were all decent.

But both versions of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory were terrible. Fantastic Mr. Fox was ok ( but I thought it could have been better done.

Four Rooms was brilliant IMO, but it seems I am in a small minority on that one.

Anyway.....BFG.....I hope it is awesome!!

I watched the trailer yesterday, when the exterior shot of the orphanage came up, I got a flashback to reading the book as a kid, it looked exactly like the cartoon movie and film version of the storybook I had as a kid.

I think the books are that magical that they don't really translate that well into films no matter how well they're done. Besides I prefer the Raymond Briggs stuff, like the Snowman and When the Wind Blows that scars kids for life !.

Behave. Original is a classic. Might play loose with the original plot, but I don't care, it's ace.

The first version of Charlie and the chocolate factory terrible?? Speechless here. Remake is dire I'll give you that, but Gene Wilder...

Quite enjoyed the BBC version of esio trot too.

Maybe it is just because I read the book first, but I think they are both awful, awful versions of the book. Honestly think it is a case of 'watch the movie before you read the book, otherwise you just wreck the movie'
