The best part about being over 40...

A friend of mine is playing in the WSOP Seniors tournament in Las Vegas this weekend. He's 54. Gotta be 50 to play. I don't know what bothers me more. That they consider 50 a "senior" or that I'm only four years away from being able to play in it.

Best part of being over 40?

Not being 50.

I turned 50 in February and it's been fab...so far. Got some fantastic presents which included;

4 day trip to Prague with my wife and 19 & 17 year olds,

Hospitality at a Greenock Morton game with pals,

Tickets to see Johnny Marr in Glasgow,

£50 vouchers for local Italian & Steak restaurants,

Tons of alcohol,

and best of all...

Weekend in Liverpool with a meal in Carluccios and Hospitality for the game v Stoke from my Missus.

Best Birthday ever. (y)

Didnt that spoil it a little bit though?

HaHa, not really mate, they're my hometown team and I've been going to see them since 1966 when I was 3 years old. Season ticket holder and been taking my 19 year old son since he was 11 months old.

So...hospitality with a free bar, 2-1 win over Livingston and copious amounts of drink afterwards was a fantastic present...for me anyway.

I know that feeling. But you're not even middle aged yet. I'll be 45 in October. It's a scary thought, but it's just a number man.

There are happy and unhappy people of every age. I just try really damned hard to be one of the happy ones regardless of the circumstance.

Sorry didn't mean to get all philosophical.

Not at all, don't apologise. That's excellent insight bro.

The only good things I can say about being your age is that you seen Everton win trophies. Other than that, I'm happy to stay in my 20's, train hard to feel in my 20's and look in my teens.
