there is a [Poor language removed] load of bands that should have a shout out in the 80's and that but just saying The Beatles rocked for their time and probably set the bench mark for all groups BUT they did have the privilaged back ground and far from the working class [Poor language removed] they spin...FACT

Bands from Liverpool from the 80's and beyond ....you could have a choice from (these are the ones I can remember)
The boo Radleys,Big in Japan,Dead or Alive, The Christians, Echo & The Bunnymen,Elvis Costello, The Farm, The Flock of Seaguls, Frankie goes to Holywood, Gomez,half man half buscuit,Iclicle Works,The la's,The real people, The Rascals,SHACK, The Teadrop Explodes Etc Etc...

You have to wonder though why they had such an impact..i'm in my 40's and sort of get it but i dont see the fact of them going to india etc as newsworthy events,lol,nice to see even back then when news was serious they still reported on [Poor language removed].

Rubber Soul onwards was thier purple patch and hell they made some wonderful music the early stuff was for me,[Poor language removed] tbh far too manufactured whereas most of the stuff from that album onwards pushed pop music in ways it hadnt been done before.

I think everyone has a little bit of a beatles fan in them regardless what era its from...me I like the trippy stuff. Like most things though they went off their t!ts believed their own hype and fukced off to India and started being beauts....take drugs,live drugs, feels drugs but dont think your any better than you are on drugs.....me thoughts...I used to DJ in clubs in Liverpool . . . .and sort of know where bands come from with the fame thing and ego thingBaaBar Garlands and Barzero anyone

The head up the arse is inevitable regardless of who the person is and how famous they become. They Rock...As in the Beatles rock, they started so many things for so many bands....just dont believe the working class [Poor language removed] they span

I was watching sporadically, the Help film with them earlier tonight. I couldn't work out if it was a piece of hawking such genius or a bad peter docherty experience.

Made in 1965 it showed the band as everyone remembers them at their peak, made after a hard days night and before the split five or so years later.

It's easy for Merseyside born individuals to say they were the best, but that covers a lot of ground, people from outside the area may beg to differ. Good sounds though.

Maybe it is a personnel thing coming from Liverpool ( makes me a individual I guess) but watching them on TV last night again underlined why there the best band ever.

I was born to late to experience them first hand, but fortunatley me old fella was nuts on them so I was essentially brought up listening to them.

I my mind no band (including george martin who was a major factor) has or propably will raise the bar of popular music so much, both creatively and technically - in their relativley short lifespan as the beatles did

he said the very same thing to me when i met him at a madnees concert a few years ago!

and me being pissed did his nut in about everton while all my mates were getting autographs and stuff!

i was in a box at the brighton centre a few years ago watching madness(i love madness), and in the next box to us was paul mcCartney, lady mucker,and stella. there was a window between the two boxes and me and my mates had had a few beers so we were going a bit mad, jumping and danceing and stuff. and paul was pissing him self laughing so i asked him if he wanted a beer in my best sign languege through the window, he said no , but then came in 5 mins later all my mates were getting stuff signed and i just asked him which team he supported to which he said he didnt, so in my pissed state i kept pressing the question "but you are a scouser and that means you are a red or a blue" so in the end he said if any it would be blue becouse his dad was an avid blue. so that was it i lost it then started to say to him "when are you putting youre money in to the club then paul do it for youre dad" and to that he said his good byes signed my royals *** packet and left. so take what you will from that. nice bloke though.
