Tim Cahill is our top scorer (9) and has our second most assists (4).

We will be without Tim Cahill for (probably) the whole of January.

So, this will be the most crucial part of the season. If we don't manage to change it up and get goals from somewhere else, then all hope of even a top 10 finish will probably disappear.

However, this could be a blessing in disguise. Right now, God love him, Tim Cahill is the focal point of everything we do. When he leaves us, Moyes will be forced to try new things. And maybe, just maybe, these new things -- or even new players (be it loans, or maybe a run in the team for players like Bily and Beckford) -- could be the spark we need.

Although today's result was bitterly disappointing, we are sitting in 11th place, and are still within touching distance of Europe. A run of form now could save this season. But it really has to be now, and sadly it has to be without Cahill. This, David Moyes, is when you have to stand up, be counted, and show us all why you're the man at the helm of our great club. Please don't mess it up.

I hope Heitinga leaves because if not he will be playing in midfield with Fellaini up front or behind the striker. There is no way on earth Moyes will play 2 strikers up front, just not going to happen.

It might even force us in trying to player strikers, you never know.

Were running out of options/saviours and lets be honest this season is not heading anywhere. I'd just choose any one or two from Vaughan/Beckford/Yakubu and play them for a month come what may hoping to force at least one of them into any sort of form.

It's boring the living [Poor language removed] out of me with our [Poor language removed] scoring.

Took the words right out of my mouth..

We are built around Cahill, I think when he's gone, we will see some new things... For better or worst, we shall see..

I think the transfer window will be very important. I'm hoping we'll get to wave bye bye to Heitinga and Saha, at least, and maybe we can add some eager loanees to the squad. Anything has to be better than those two wastes of space.

If one postive I recieved from today, it's that I dont think he'll play Fellaini up front. Today he was sitting, while Arteta and Cahill took turns to go forward.

If we're going to persist with 5 in midfield, Bily in AM please. Just for a game or two. We need something a bit different. Maybe he'll provide that.

I would give Yakubu and Saha away to Tranmere and just play Beckford.

As I keep saying, playing Fellaini in an attacking role is criminal. He is our best midfielder, and one of the finest defensive/center mids in the league. He bosses the game there, and should only ever play there. Hopefully Moyes sees it the same way.

Add Yak to that. May as well sell Bily too if you are only going to give him a minute here and there.

I love the Yak, but clearly he wants to leave and I don't blame him to be honest. I'd be devastated to see Bily go, as he is just ace, but Moyes doesn't give him nearly enough of a chance. A sustained run in the team throughout january, in the Cahill role, could do him the world of good. If after something like that it's still not working, then chalk it down as bad buy. But to sell him now, to me, would seem premature and unfair.

I firmly believe a combination of Saha/Yak partnering Beckford in a traditional 4-4-2, with Saha/Yak dropping off and allowing Beckford to play on the shoulder of the last man will be the making of Everton this season.

I'd have this team in January.

Howard

Neville
Jagielka
Distin
Baines

Arteta/Coleman
Fellaini
Rodwell
Pienaar/Bilyaletdinov

Saha/Yak
Beckford

I've liked the look of Felli and Rodders in the middle (Arteta just disrupted that today), and I'd have Arteta right wing with Coleman coming on for impact at home, and Coleman starting away to hit on the counter with pace.

Moyes needs to realise there's nothing wrong with dropping out of form players, and that includes Arteta.

Good shout but for me yak is finished.

Saha in a deeper role could be worth a punt tho. His legs have gone but his technique is still there. Pair him with Vic or Beckford to do the running. But knowing Moyes, he'll just put felli up there.
