Welbeck is their best striker now but he isn't a 20 goals a season player, not in a million years. I thought he linked up well with Ozil yesterday though, enjoy watching him. Best of luck to Danny, cracking lad.

Funny how RAWK and you lot rate him now he's left Man Utd though - football fans are funny :D

Didn't he score about 1 in 2 when he played up front for you ? That's not far off 20 goals in a league season. He'll improve playing regularly in that position as well.

Don't think so TBH mate. He always divided opinion on here and I reckon the ones who didn't rate him at Man U still don't rate him now. There were plenty on here saying we should try and get him in the past.

I was and am one of those people. It's frightening how good I am at picking players.

Perhaps Wenger should have brought a striker after all...

Arsenal have announced that Danny Welbeck has undergone surgery on his left knee and will be “out for a period of months”.

Despite hopes the England striker would recover from bone bruising around the knee, he had to undergo surgery after being unable to sufficiently step up his rehabilitation, a statement on Arsenal’s website said on Thursday. “It had been hoped he would avoid surgery but after increasing his training workload, the injury to his cartilage did not respond as well as hoped and the decision was taken last week for him to undergo surgery by a leading specialist in the field,” the statement said.

Welbeck has not played for the club since the goalless draw with Chelsea at the end of April, missing both the FA Cup final and end-of-season internationals, and Arsène Wenger must do without the forward for the foreseeable future as his side look to improve on their stuttering start to the season. Wenger, who has been criticised for not strengthening his forward line in the transfer window, had hoped the forward would be available soon after the international break. With the decision to operate having come last week, there would have still been time for Arsenal to go into the market to bolster their attacking options.

Maybe now Joel Campbell will finally get some games?

He's rotting away there

He's barely had the chance to provde it one way or the other has he?

I was hoping we'd loan him a while back actually

Not there not really, but you'd have to ask why he hasn't had a chance.

But I saw him playing in Spain last season for Villareal, and he's alright. Probably not good enough for Arsenal really, but you never know I guess.

Feel sorry for Arsenal and their bad luck with injuries but honestly they don't make it easy for themselves either - go down to 10 men if you have to!

The Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla is set to miss at least three months with the knee ligament injury he suffered in the 1-1 draw at Norwich City and there are fears he could be absent for longer. Arsenal are still assessing the injury but are resigned to losing the Spaniard until at least March as Arsène Wenger, the manager, continues to be hit by fitness problems for key players.

Cazorla was one of three players to injure himself at Carrow Road, with Alexis Sánchez and Laurent Koscielny unable to finish the game. Cazorla, who was hurt when challenging Gary O’Neil for the ball, stayed on the pitch despite suffering the injury in the first minute of the second half. He was struggling to run towards the end and stayed on only because Wenger had used his three substitutes. “The worrying thing was that it got worse,” Wenger said after the game.

Sánchez injured a hamstring in the same game and the initial indications are he is likely to be out for three to four weeks. The damage to Koscielny’s hip is not as serious as was first feared and he may even feature against Sunderland.

Hate watching them play at home. Every single touch is greeted with a round of applause. Winds me right up.
