He won't retire. He'll come out and say he offered to, but the manager convinced him to stay on.

Part of the problem is the England manager seems to be in awe of the country's 'star' players.

I've thought the same several times over the past year, but I don't think his ego would allow it. Neither the media or manager will push for it. Convinced he will still be there come the next round of international fixtures post World Cup.
