I'm back!
Well what an eventful holiday that was!
First off and to put it simply, west of Algarve is dead beautiful, anything from Albufeira east is chavvy as you like.
Ok. Where to start? I know I'll do day by day.
Day 1:
Right, I don't like flying. In fact i hate it, it unnatural but i understand necessary to get places, so we drive to Stanstead (don't ask why I picked this airport...I don't know) park the car and get the flight. The Mrs' chair kicked all the way there by an evil welsh kid in the seat behind. Flight ok though and easy transfer to our immense hotel. And it really was immense. Beach two mins away so we head down there straight away to check it out and it looked like this:
And i see a bird with her baps out...aces.
We head back and go to the local town (Albufeira) for dins. It's split Old Town and New Town. New Town for stag/hen do's and the like, Old Town for bars and restaurants but still a bit chavtastic. Nice meal had with weird starter of curried carrots and tuna?!?!?!?!
Day 2:
Decision made to chill on the ace beach for loads of the day. Now I'm pretty fair skinned (not Ginger though) so bought uber factor lotion with me and whack it all over...(or i thought all over). Nice time had and more naked boobs seen. Meal had at a nice sushi bar. Good day.
Day 3:
Coach trip organised to see the west of the Algarve and the mountains. Pretty ace to be fair, did wine tasting at Monchique (the mountains) and drank a shot of what they call Firewater....Jesus Christ!
So we reach the town of Lagos. It's lovely and really where we should have stayed, but my right foot is killing me. I whip my shoes off and reveal the biggest blister you have ever seen. We don't know what to do so i pop the [Poor language removed] (bad idea) and get some plasters. Make it back to the hotel and have a closer look at my feet. Burnt to hell the both of them. Left peg way worse though. Blisters everywhere. I stupidly pop them all as I'm a tard, and call reception to send a first aider up. She bandages me up and we kip.
Day 3:
Pain...lots of pain. Mrs had been up all night with food poisoning from our fishy dinner. Not going well. We chill the day, trying to get better, she does i don't. We watch the Europa final (a huge deal in Portugal), and i shower before bed. Foot looks real bad. Mrs suggests hospital. I crap myself but agree. 1am in a Portuguese hospital is a weird experience i tell you. I get seen and turns out I've infected my foot, and they prescribe 3 different foreign drugs to make me better and wrap my foot up like a mummy. Great.
Day 4:
Arranged a cruise in the Atlantic, and still went despite immense tiredness and pain. Water choppy and i feel like I'm gonna vom but hold it in. Now on the cruise they arranged a BBQ on a secluded beach. Sounds ace right? Would be but you have to walk through a bit of the sea to get to it...i can't get my foot wet...what do i do? Oh wait the random Potuguese boat guys have an idea "lets carry Smithy over". Brilliant. Not embarrassing at all. Jesus wept. Even worse on the way back Potugeezer thinks it would be funny to fireman lift me back to the boat.
Still decent day. Ace evening meal and not minding the blinding pain in foot!
Day 5:
Back to the skanky hospital to have my foot dressing changed but done pretty quick so we decide to head to the Zoo Marina as they have dolphins and sea lions and all that caper. Nothing weird or annoying happened on this day and the Mrs has fun as i havnt whinged much. Success.
Day 6:
Last full day. Head to shops to see what Portuguese do here....not that different but stocked up on Milka chocolate. God i love that shiz. Go back to our beach in afternoon (i stay in shade) and say our goodbyes before another immense evening meal.
Today:
Easy flight and travel home and we beat Chelsea. Better.
So thats my holiday. Still limping now and gonna head to my docs here to see what he says about it. Supposed to be back at work on Wednesday but I'll see if he can sign me off with it!! Whay!
In seriousness i would recommend The Algarve, it's got a bit of everything. Booze and chill out spots. Just remember to put sun lotion on your feet.
Oh and this soft drink is amazing:
What's new here?!
