The time on the US/Portugal game has also now been moved back to 6PM local.

Which will also apparently be 6PM Eastern in the 'States, because Manaus doesn't use Daylight saving time. Thanks Wikipedia.

I think we Yanks should be able to beat both Portugal and Ghana.

Portugal lacks depth, but Ronaldo will still be able to do some damage to a defense that's the weak link of this US side.

Ghana is more of a mental problem, we can easily outclass them. I think the Egypt/Ghana WCQ result though shows that Ghana was Bob Bradley's problem, though, not a US problem. Hopefully I'm proven right.

Germany... Yeah, no. I'm picking them to win it all at this point. If we get a point out of that match it'll be a cause for a national holiday.

England's group seems much tougher than ours. Three teams that really should go through to the knockout, plus a Costa Rican side that are in no way pushovers. Best of luck with that one, mates.

We both got crappy groups to be fair mate

I blame the war in Iraq for no reasonable reason

My trip to Bosnia coincides with their 3rd game against Iran on the 25th

No Euro team has ever won the World Cup in SA, right? I guess it's USMNT right up the middle then, isn't it?

Didn't know that bit. Well, in that case, after we break the Ghana curse with an 8-0 pounding on the way to getting 9 points from the group. Since the round of 16 would probably put us against Russia, another puny European power in South America, we'll tear through them and then just ride freedom and apple pie through the remaining rounds.

Seems legit, right?

Limited sample size, and quite a few people have trouble deciding whether Mexico is in SA (based on the articles I've read) so it may be meaningless data, but not much success in the Western Hemisphere for European sides:

Year: Winner (Host)
1930: Uruguay (Uruguay)
1950: Uruguay (Brazil)
1962: Brazil (Chile)
1978: Argentina (Argentina)

Also in North America:
1970: Brazil (Mexico)
1986: Argentina (Mexico)
1994: Brazil (United States)

Mexico are this hemisphere's England. Its been quite a while since a WC has been played here so those stats about europe are meaningless.

Didn't realise it has been 36 years since the World cup was held in South America. IIRC the 86 was meant to be held in Colombia or something wasn't it before it eventually went to Mexico

Mexico is defo not in South America lid. Technically its North American but I think they see themselves as that made up continent, Central America. Boss food and beer so they can be whatever they want to be.

The BBC will show England’s opening World Cup match against Italy next summer after ITV chose their second Group D game against Uruguay in the carve-up of matches between the two broadcasters.

Fifa’s decision to bring forward the kick-off time of England’s 'Group of Death’ game in Manaus by three hours was not enough to convince ITV to exercise its first option on the contest, which will begin at 11pm BST on June 14.

It instead went for the Uruguay match five days later in Sao Paulo, which kicks off at the more commercially viable time of 8pm, while also choosing the final group game against Costa Rica on June 24 in Belo Horizonte, which starts at 5pm.

Two days of negotiations between the joint rights’ holders resulted in the BBC securing the pick of any last-16 and semi-final match England might play, with ITV opting for a potential quarter-final.

Both broadcasters will show the final on July 13, while ITV secured the tournament opener between hosts Brazil and Croatia on June 12.
