I'm sure most on here will hate the guy as an ex RS but I've just listened to the first 2 Peter Crouch podcasts on 5 Live and they're actually pretty good. Well worth a listen. I'd heard before he's a really nice guy and that comes across well in the podcasts.

Crouch is meat and drink to the Beeb. He's one of the lads and more genuine than the likes of Savage.
Expect a long career on the air for Crouchie.
He seems pretty articulate to be fair.

Dont even think of him as a Liverpool player for some reason. Probs cos he has played for half the league anyrate. Comes over as a decent bloke, who knows he got dead lucky as a player. Nowt wrong with that in my book.

Liked Crouch ever since he came out with that one. There's a good tale about him involving a flash car, Roy Keane shaking his head and the sudden realisation and regret that he had turned into a bit of a flash bell.

A more than decent strike rate at times as well. Remember that volley he put past Joe Hart, good feet for a big man etc, etc. But for his height he was a surprisingly poor header of the ball technique wise, bit of a 50p head.

Heard him on the radio saying that his wife ain’t no football fan, he realised this when he checked his phone some weekends to see a missed call and a voicemail asking where he was? It was quarter to three on a Saturday. More than once. Funny if true!!

Loves his music, knows he has done brilliantly on and off the pitch yet displays a real humility when he speaks and to me comes across a thoroughly decent bloke. I find it hard to dislike the guy.

He doesn't take himself too seriously. He tells a good story of when he joined the RS he bought a flash car and whilst driving in Chesire somewhere he came to a red light. A 4x4 pulled up beside him and he noticed it was Roy Keane.

Crouch gave him a knowing wink as if to say I've made it now, I'm one of you now. He said Keane have him such a look that he put the car up for sale the next day and brought his feet right back down to the ground.

He realised that he was acting like a knob.
