To all my fellow yankee doodles...HAVE A GOOD ONE!

I think it's something to do with final victory over the stolen land owned previously by natives for millennia. What does thanks giving celebrate??
Victory over the aborigines??I think it's something to do with final victory over the stolen land owned previously by natives for millennia.
Not that we over in Britain have any moral high ground to stand on.
No, that was a different continent that we stole and defiled.Victory over the aborigines??
Oh wow.No, that was a different continent that we stole and defiled.
To be fair, with what was to become the us, we can blame the Spanish for much of the original slaughter theft and pillage, but we brits just sent off all the losers who couldn't cope with our opressive tax and enslave regime to the new world, to live in a rule and consequence free environment, where the man with the biggest weapon was king, rather than the man who was best connected to his old school chums via public / wealth / class driven school.
It resulted in a dreadful mess, lack of intelligent thought, greed, con merchants, treachery, treason, revolt, and ultimately the gattling gun to rid the land if those who had been minding their own business for eons.
And this is the day they get together to celebrate it.... With shopping and a turkey.
Thanksgiving is massively overrated. Parades for giant balloons, arguing with brain dead relatives, bland food you wouldn’t eat any other time of year, and the Dallas Cowboys. How good can a holiday be if the highlight is doing the shopping for a different holiday?
What does thanks giving celebrate??

I didn't! I stated that the British have no moral high ground to stand on. Come to that, neither do much of Europe. History tells us the more successful a people have been, the less pleasant their methods tend to have been. The pilgrims were British citizens so don't think you can distance yourself too much
What does thanks giving celebrate??
Oh wow.The time they gave the native indians blankets infested with smallpox.
