was selected in Australia's Asian Cup squad today. Would really like us to have a look at him. He's arguably the most technically gifted Australian player at this moment in time.

Obviously this excludes Tim Cahill.

Fair point but at 21, it's pretty impressive. Injuries have held him back which is why he's still playing in the A-League. The boy is a star.

I'm sure we tried to sign this lad when he was about 14 but he couldn't join us for some reason. Anyone?

I've never seen him play tbf. He could be superb for all I know.

I guess it's time youtube him and scout him on FM.

Yes mate. I watch him week in week out. His ball control, vision, distribution and long range shooting ability is top class.

What happened with that lad from Azerbaijan as well?

Centre mid. Has the ability to play deep where he can ping accurate diagonal balls or in a more advanced role

Mate not being harsh... I live in aus too.... There is not one player in the a-league that is good enough for the prem. Hesky come over here when he was 37 and still tore the league a new arse hole.... As did Michael bridges. The standard here is unbelievably crap. I used to think teams like Stoke and Norwich were bad to watch... But over here the defending is so bad .. Can't tackle .. And there are about 5, 1 on 1 chances every game and the game still ends up goalless. Terry Antonis was the guy that was ment to be one of the best 14 year olds going and loved Tim Cahill . We tried signing him when he was 14 and 17 from what I remember but it didn't happen.

According to wiki, we signed him on a 5yr contract when he was 14 but Football Federation Australia didn't allow it to go through cause of his tender age. He holds dual citizenship through his Greek origins so shouldn't be a problem acquiring his services.

In general terms, yes, the A-League is of a poor standard. Perhaps it's suitable for players like McGeady and Atsu who are really not good enough to put on the blue shirt. Antonis is way above A-League standard and I am sure will end up playing at higher level sooner rather than later.
