What's interesting here is the explanation and attempted justification of Nalbandian's behaviour. In football we would be talking about common assault and lengthy bans. I found the incident outrageous and would push for the severest consequences if involved.

Interesting how the social standing of a sport can generate different responses....

PS - I cannot stand tennis, one of the few sports I really despise

I was gonna reckon on you heading over to Wimbers as well mate, cant stand it either myself but tbh I wouldn't mind having a kijk at Centre Court. Been told that it a fair old size.

Seems that while he accepted he was in the wrong and apoligised for it there were other underlying things he wasn't happy about so took this as an opportunity to blame them for his actions.

Its bollocks but you understand it.

He made an error out of frustration and was disaqualified, don't think there's any need for any more punishments. And wouldn't if the same thing happened in football, it was a heat of the moment and their was clearly no intent to injure the line judge.

Went once Reidy and didn't like it - Centre Court is an amazing place, but the game and the people surrounding it, not my cup of tea!

The place reeks of privilege, most of it un-earned - brought out some long held deep resentments in me!

bit soft arse

feck all compared to my mate whacking my knees with a snooker cue last night after someone kept nudging him on the brown, luckily I kept catching the cue (was sitting) but as he was pished he carried on, the cue was quite heavy as well so I had to keep catching to avoid crippling injury, he caught me once but was his worse 'shot' I was ready to wrestle it off him when he packed in.

Found it quite funny to be honest, and I think it's a mountain out of a molehill. Yeh he did wrong, did not mean to hurt the judge, was kicking the advertising boarding in frustration. H was disqualified which in my opinion is punishment enough. Move on.

The way the old fella made a point of looking directly at the umpire then back at his knee. What a [Poor language removed].

Tbf if I was Nalbandian I would have just carried on kicking him. If you're gonna get disqualified at least do it properly. Jeez.

I'm surprised he didn't start throwing his racket around again when he got disqualified. To be fair I think he'd already had warnings for behaviour for throwing his racket, and if you don't get disqualified for that what do you get disqualified for?

That line judge is still a tart though.
