Tennis 2019

2019 already looks to be a bad year for British tennis as Andy Murray might be bowing out after the Australian Open. Sad to see his career end this way. Even though he started off as a dour and moody Scot, his two Wimbledon and Olympic golds will forever live long in the memory.
He's been that all his career mate ;)
Yep, very emotional interview today down here in Melbourne.

.....contrary to many on here, i’ve always liked Andy Murray. He has to be in the top group of greatest ever British Sportsmen.

Whilst it’s a shame he can’t retire on his own terms, his career should be celebrated.
Yep, I'm with you @Eggs. Phenomenal sportsman who has won 3 titles at Wimbledon, U.S. Open, Olympic medals, Davis Cup and was world no.1.

Legend.

Great player and by all accounts a very likeable and popular guy amongst those who know him on a personal level. Never got the hate towards him being dour, he’s actually quite witty and funny imo but then I like dry sense of humours.

Would have won more majors in pretty much any other era.

Crying his eyes out (again). FFS, that divvy wants to have a go at living in the real world with genuine problems to sort out.

Oh shut up Davek. What a ridiculously pathetic viewpoint to have. You really are insufferable these days with your ridiculous try hard opinions.

If you earn over a certain amount you’re not allowed to be emotional when your career is ended early because of injuries ? Beyond pathetic mindset to have.

That feller would crawl into the gutter and die if he had to live the less than pampered existence he's had in his adult life. Wailing like a 'kin banshee on realisation that his self induced injuries have cut short his increasingly rubbsh tennis career by a year or so. I'm gutted for him, I really am.

Meanwhile....people wait for life saving operations / queue at a food bank / live in a war zone....

The thing I always loved about Andy Murray was how much he cared. I used to live his matches with him. I remember staying up to watch him win the US Open in that 6 hour final with Djokovic, amazing match. He put me through a whole range of emotions.

Those people who complain about the crowd at Goodison, watch some footage of Andy Murray. Always striving for perfection, berating himself for not making shots he knew he could make, fighting his own negativity at times and then the delight, the absolute sense of relief at fulfilling his potential by winning 3 Grand Slams and an Olympic Gold medal. That is what fans want for Everton. That is what the club means to them, and that's what tennis meant to Andy Murray. That's why he was perceived as miserable, because when you're striving for perfection it's very hard work and most of the time you're disappointed.

Gutted for the fella, yes he can be a bit of misery, but the pressure he carried throughout his career as British No1 and finally breaking that voodoo of winning Wimbledon after 70 odd years was a fantastic achievement.

Bringing home the Davis Cup for GB was also sensational -
