Tendonitis

Had achilles tendinitis a few months back. I operate large industrial machinery that’s up on large platforms with loads of mini stepladders situated around it. Overstretched my foot and wrote it off as a ‘twinge’ until the back and joint of my ankle ballooned up :(

2 weeks off. I recommend ibuprofen and... oddly enough for here... RICE

Rest
Ice
Conpression
Elevation

;)

Haha, not trying to play doctor! My father in law was repeatedly told he had tendinitis in his toe but eventually found out it was gout! And no you don’t have to be daring port in huge quantities to get gout! Think tendinitis is a bit of an easy way to explain toe pain when really all sorts of conditions lead to problems in that area! My advice is anti-inflammatory meds as already suggested but if it persists or recurs get a second opinion!

Had it in my ankles and 3 small toes. you are pushing off your big toe too much. It will go away in 4-8 weeks. Take NSAIDS. maybe get orthotics, wear running shoes. you start running again don't do hills. you can run some KT tape down your big toe tendon, it sometimes helps.

could also be gout too, NSAIDS work for that though too

When I hop off the plane I'll give you a hand. Tendinitis is no longer the correct term as it not an "inflammatory response of the tendon"

Depends as to your loading history as to whether its a tenosynovitis or a tendinopathy and to how the tendon responds to load (if it is the tendon)

Does it get progressively worse as you load it? I.e single leg standing, calf raise, hopping, jumper etc

I had it in my wrist when I was a builder once. I tried using my weaker left hand more to rest my stronger hand and ended up getting it in that one as well. It was quite painful.

It’s not always easy but if I recall correctly I think the only way to remedy it is to rest it.
