I used to be not only 'with it' with technology, but ahead of the game.

These days, well, around the time of Blu-ray, it's all gone to pot. Only this week did I discover these things. Have you seen them? Like portable charging devices. Where was the heads up on these? Everyone is always moaning about phone charge and chasing a plug socket - I've not seen them advertised. I hadn't even seen them used before - but now I can charge this portable box, and when I'm out and about, plug my iPhone in it and it'll charge it for me, up to 7 times with each charge.

It made me think, what else am I missing out on? I need a place where I can get some technology wisdom.

This weeks problem. I'm going abroad, and ideally, want to take my phone without fearing a bill that will make me homeless.

O2 want to charge me £120 for a Data Abroad Bolt On, which is 200MBs - Good apparently, because it should be £6 per MB

I've had a search and I've seen Wifi portable boxes of sorts, which claim to be like, portable wifi's.

And @Reidy's Bottle Of Grecian pipe down. This isn't another excuse for you to mention my double sided printer problem.

What ever country you are going to, take out your sim and buy a local sim, that way no roaming charges I believe.

£120 for 200mbs is downright robbery. Depending on what you're doing you could burn through that in no time. Where about are you travelling to and is your phone unlocked?

Aldi advertising 1 of those charger things for £7.99, and you can also get a wind up torch that has a usb for charging your phone off it.

3 let you take your plan for free, others also but with a cost of £2 per 24 hrs in some cases, if you only want it for calls & texts check out 'Toggle' mobile... they give their sims out in co-op travel. They may have data packages now as well. I find that I can just use wifi abroad tbh, but then I'm not a social media addict like yourself.

Don't worry about GOT while you're away. Just turn it off mate. We'll look after the place for you, the place will be fine when you get back
