I'd like to see us get very physical with them again like we did in the 90's Under Royle/Kendal etc.

This Liverpool team has a lot of similarities with the Liverpool team in the 90's. Living on past glories, trying to play expressive attacking football, lots of big name Charlie's, but ultimately when the battle is on will go missing.

Liverpool under Houllier and particularly Benitez became very shrewd operators in derbies, filled with big game players and guys who fancied the battle. Benitez was king in picking teams to kick us off the park. Carragher, Gerrard, Mascherano, Alonso, Lucas, (Lucas and Gerrard closer to their prime) were all key to this strategy.

I think Benitez and Houllier knew how to play the derby as a one off game, and set teams up who were able to win the physical battle. I don't think Rodgers is made of the same stuff. They will line up playing their 3-4-3 with players such as Coutinho, Lallana, Markovic and Stirling all playing in the same team. In the heat of a derby battle these players can go missing if you apply the pressure.

My team would be a team which would be picked to prevent it being a football game, and turn it into a battle, relying on the home crowds advantage.

GK: Robles
RB: Hibbert/Browning
CB: Stones
CB Jagielka
LB: Garbutt/Oviedo

LM: Baines
Cm: barry
CM: McCarthy/Besic
RM: Coleman

Cf: Naismith
ST: Lukaku.

Push Baines and Coleman on in the hope they can force Liverpools full backs into a back 5.

Gravesen just had a mad stare which made him look like a hardman, but he certainly didn't tackle like one. Parkinson needs to be alongside Reidy in that lineup.

First two names on the sheet would be Southall in goal and Dixie Dean up front.

also, KANCHELSKIS was brilliant for us, and Sheedy and the best left foot.
