Interesting article on Toffeeweb talking of tactics under David Moyes. It appears that in training efforts are concentrated on defending aiming not to lose rather than win. In addition emphasis is placed on defending set pieces.

It appears that this is confirmed by Stubbs in a conversation and that little attention is given to the attacking dimension.

If I knew how to link I would put one in.

Read the post by Chris Matheson. He fully understood our flaws and I've not come across anyone who can describe it better than he does.
It's a pity I can't do copy and paste on my mobile. Any kind soul out there?

There are times when we just attack though and it feels like attack is the best form of defense. Is that just natural for the players then if they do not work on it in training?

Notice not many people commenting, do not want to face up to our performance or Moyes rules.

Maybe it's because that article is a massive pile of tosh, written and self celebrated by self loathing ToffeeWeb types. They're quite obvious tactical geniuses who can advise David Moyes on Premiership training and tactics.

Hence why no one is really arsed by it. If they wrote "the chilli pastie in Sayers is absolute [Poor language removed]" then you would get all sorts of fuming and emotions stirred on here.

Don't want to start inter forum nerd wars, as we are certainly weird on here, but that place is so [Poor language removed] it's comical.

Its Toffeeweb: where every gripe about the club is accepted as fact.

God forbid we work hard on defending set pieces. Set pieces only amount to 1/3 of all prem goals. There are probably alot of Reds out there that wished they spent a little more time learining how to defend them.

However in toffeeweb's defense I bet if they had their way we'd be playing better looking football.....in league 1. Though thats assuming the club would still exist after they sold it to the 1st arab with a Mercedes they made eye contact with.

imo opinion moyes biggest flaw is his substitutions or lack of them.
tactically we all know we play our best football in 451 formation and recently with no creativity so understandingly he would be playing a more defensive game.
now mikky is back we will play more attacking football as the creativity is back.

mixed feelings.

i like & trust moyes, but on the other hand being conservative & relying on your defense isn't my favorite strategy. proof will be in the pudding though - keep showing me points out of every match & i'm happy.

Not really working this year to be fair.....only kept about 5 clean sheets or something.

Need to get back to the training yard.

Strikes me you are more concerned with trashing Toffeeweb rather than sitting back, reading the article and recalling our perfomances.

Ah well C'est la vie.
