This was compounded by a diet I was on a few years back that required you to cut out as much sugar as possible. Literally the only added sugar I had in anything was 1 teaspoon in my morning coffee.
The withdrawal you have from sugar (And yes, it is a withdrawal as sugar is highly addictive) felt like a 5 day hangover.
It's amazing how much different everything tasted when you ween yourself off your sugar intake.
Diet soda actually tastes sweet and I've come to seriously appreciate dark chocolate!
I've actually kept my sugar intake very low ever since.
