Slightly off topic but one of my housemates at uni told me last week that where he's from it's usual for a whole pub to stand up and sing the National Anthem before an England game, any thoughts? He's not a wool by the way.

Just Google mapped it as never heard of it. Spot on. Middle of nowhere and nailed on that its soul crushingling boring/inbred. England territory as they have nothing to be proud of whatsoever.

There's a difference I think. The Americans are deeply proud of being American and the freedom and pioneering opportunities they stand for. The English are bitter and sing about how great they used to be, basically washed up has beens craving attention.

Carlisle is a hotspot of England bellishness. Reeks of it.

It seems the closer you get towards the Scottish borders the more you have to try harder to be English or risk being mistaken for being Caledonian.

Geordies and North Cumbrians are the wools of Scotland.

The thing with me is, I support England but I still slate players from rival clubs if they do something rubbish, i.e Sturridge before he scored tonight, praying for Wilshire to go off injured after Agger clattered him etc.
