Sunderland and great players

There are probably other clubs that could be in this category, but I cannot think of one really good player that has come from them. Like ever.

Think of some of the gems from Newcastle, West Ham, Southampton and even West Brom a few years back, (ie, clubs mainly top flight, but not stickies like us, that lot etc), and I find it quite odd that Sunderland seem to be awful at developing/finding ace young players.

Am I wrong?

Didnt know that. But would you honestly call him a great player?

He is good, dont get me wrong, I just find it strange that they dont seem to have a history of developing them.
Great player at Sunderland at least. Wiki says 113 goals in 208 games which is a pretty boss record.
