I still think Ossie did get caught by Cattermole on his swing, and I weathered abuse at my parents' house for some time after the first replay since it's only ever shown from that one angle. And I agree, it doesn't look like a touch from there but from the right hand side of the pitch angle that I've only seen in that one short replay I think it's fair to say that Cattermole touches Osman's legs as he swings which gets Ossie completely off balance.
Anyone who's had their legs brushed when trying to swing will know very little can affect very much. I think he's touched which causes him to swing into his own leg and then the ground, and I don't think Osman's the type of player to be that persistent in his pleading if there had been no touch.
I think Webb had a crappy showing either way as he was very onesided in his decisions. I also think the offside decision for a perfect Heitinga-Saha through ball was ****e. No matter that Saha would've been caught up afterwards.
I agree with you about the penalty. Professional footballers, especially defenders, are very good at running behind/across a player in such a way that the striker's trailing leg catches theirs. It may or not have been intentional this time but I reckon there was sufficient enough of a brush to affect Ossie's balance and make him kick the gound. He is too good a player to do so of his own volition. All this stuff about him being a cheat is rubbish. It's a shame blatant penalties have not been awarded to us. We're still well behind on penalty decisions this season.
Is it a case of great minds think alike, or that great Peters do?
