My little girl finishes for 6 weeks tomorrow, crept up on me that. I've got boss memories of staying out playing footy til about 10 o'clock and living on crisp butties and watching cartoons for a month or so.

I remember me and a mate having a PENO shoot out that lasted about 4 hours.

We were both defo missing on purpose just so we didn't have to go home but never let on.

FFS. Office day tomorrow.

With paternity leave and regular leave I'm working 4 days in the next 6 weeksish.

Don't think I'll be having any peno comps but there's a good chance I'll be getting through a few crisp butties.

School summer holidays are the best days of your life

I used to be up early, watch save by the bell then out all day playing football on alsop or the bowlies in Walton park, go to Stanley park and go on the swing that was on a tree by duckies island, if you fell you went home a soggy mess from the pond . Stay out all night doing nighters then rob Phil manions bakery delivery in the morning of sausage rolls and cakes. Go to southport and fight wools by the fair. Boss days.

Used to play on Alsop!

Cricket on Clubmoor Rec, used to play golf on Bankfield, fishcakes from "Basil's" on Lisburn Lane. Street cricket and Kerbie in Bankburn Road, tennis against the end house on our street, swimming in Lister Drive baths, 2 weeks in Treardurr Bay in a caravan, week away on Boys Brigade Camp.

Great times....

Being a teacher is ace.

I've been off for 5 days and played 10 games of football.

Is right.

1996, when I was 11, was the best year of my life. What a summer, jerseys for goalposts etc, but I'd give anything to have that summer back.

Just driving to work, my daughter was out on her bike before school. All the kids knew what was ahead.

Boss summers aren't they?
It's really sunny too, unusual for the UK. Although when I was at school I remember long warm summers!

I wanna add something to my post above, without derailing the thread too much, but there's no where else to post this at the moment.

I miss being young again, because I miss being naive and not knowing as much about the world and it's awful happenings. I've just watched children being bombed and killed on the news, grieving parents, genocide. Actually brought me to tears watching the news tonight. I see those children who are being mutilated and killed and think that at that age I was jumping ditches and kicking a ball around.

Bloody hurts being grown up.
