Hey all,

I'm going to be coming from Chicago to see Everton play Chelsea April 30. It'll be my second time coming to Goodison, was just hoping for any suggestions for best place for a pint beforehand / anything else I need to do. Last time I was there, the pub I was at before the match was overrun with Newcastle supporters (don't remember the name, sorry!). Open to anything, let me know!

Thanks

Visited a lot of pubs around Goodison over the years. My personal fave stays Players Bar & Lounge on County Road. Big friendly pub that doesn't get too crowded most of the time. Few minutes walk from Goodison Park. Another one, especially on a sunny day, as they have a marvelous beergarden, is the Black Horse Pub, also on County Road, but takes a bit longer to walk from.

Anyway, there are a lot of options around, closer to Goodison. If you're early, you might also like to visit The Winslow.

lol

I remember watching a Derby in there, it was at Anfield and we got beat 3-1. Think Gerrard got sent off and then Andy van der Meyde got sent off for us.

Anyway, a man got one of them rope room dividers with the brass ends and starting smashing some fella in the head with it. He then called this big firm of fellas in because he was on his own.

Absolute chaos in there.

Tbf, it was called Orry's then.

All outside blues must take the pilgrimage to prove their love of the club.

You start in the city centre, cross the wide williamson square and try and avoid the waterfalls there.

You hitch a ride on the 26 camel until it takes you near the land of moordor. YOu trek across the swampland until you reach hell itself. then one final step to mark your devotion to the cause is to urinate on the side of the new big stand to show defiance to them lot before coninuing over the horizon and through the magical stanley jungle to the land of dreams.

Or you can hail a Delta cab

It is about the pilgrimage, that is like saying flying over the volcano in LOTR is the better option. It is but that is a 10 minute movie!

Gets you in the proper match day experience that, packed bus rocking, through the ghetto of Anfield, leave a mark on the Devil's favourite team and then walking down the hill and having the wonderful view once you get to the bottom.
