Loved subbuteo, made my own stand out of Meccano, quicker than b.m.d.

Respect. I'm an old celluloid man. You punched the players out of a card and set them up on bases whose slots were often too big. Glue was provided but I would instead jam bits of paper in.
The biggest problem was keeping the cat away. Given the chance he'd go straight for the players and cuff them to every corner of the room.
