Student Short: 'Fully Automatic?'

Hey everyone!

I've directed a comedy short called 'Fully Automatic?' with a group of my friends recently. It tells the story of three incompetent gang members who are on a job.

I'd like your honest opinions on it, I'm quite happy with it, but anything you think on it I'd like to hear! If its rubbish, just say, I'd rather know than not!

Hmmm I'm not sure mate. And I'm just being honest.

Obviously I read the script before so sort of knew what to expect.

At first I didnt like that you used the GTA font. But then it kind of works.

It just feels ... I'm not sure what word I'm looking for. Pointless is too strong. Just not sure its ever goong anywhere. Thats the problem with shorts though. The blowing up of the guns doesn't really come off as funny for me.

I think half the problem is that it's your young mates who are acting and it would work better with older guys.

Just being honest mate.

What I did like, and not just saying it, the editing was good. Much better than those early ones you showed us beards ago.

Technically it is quite good mate but like Ij-dog said the film itself is a bit weak. I like the bit where the camera was in the boot like in Pulp fiction though

Good. Music was ace, camera work was a bit shoddy, acting was awful but expected of course.

Cut scene and intro I enjoyed.

Story boarding was good too

Thanks Ijj, perfect kind of comment. We didn't even realise that it was the same font used in GTA until afterwards. My mate wrote the script, not that I'm saying it's his fault that you didn't find it that funny but I was a little worried that some might not get it.

I see, that's a good point on the actors actually and didn't consider that.

Thanks, my mate I work with is very good at editing. He did the bit inside the car and I edited the stuff outside the car.

I think I've found that I'm much better with serious stuff than comedy but it was an interesting project, and there should be another one done before the Summer is out!

Thanks mate. I'd agree that the script wasn't the strongest but I'm still quite pleased.

Yeah, next time I think we'll try and get some actors in. Which bit d'you mean by "Cut scene"? But thanks.

Yeah the masks worked. But were a little obvious if that makes sense.

Like it's been done before so didnt come off as original. But something would have been needed to replace the masks if you hadn't used them otherwise it's just lads with blow up weapons!
