....I couldn't sit in a pub and not have a pint. Lemonade and pop are not for me. If I gave up booze for a month I'd have to stay in. After working all week I love my pint. Fortunately I've never been a smoker.

Good luck to anybody abstaining on ciggies, I appreciate it's a difficult one to manage but every time your tempted think of your loved ones and what it would be to leave them.

I gave up bread a month ago and lost 6lbs. I still drink a lot at the weekend and eat pretty much what I like for tea. Just for lunch I'll have a salad or fruit. Going to carry on doing that for another month. Problem is on days I don't eat much it seems harder to run as far due to feeling faint with hunger!

I know Stoptober is meant to be about packing in smoking (all very good) but as a non-smoker anyway I'm fancying trying to use the impetus of a fresh month for my own ends...

After now realising I've had a hangover from work-orientated drinks about 7 times in the last fortnight I'm going to go cold turkey and cut out booze of any kind for a month. Have never remotely gone more than probably a week at most without drinking before. I still plan on going out just on being the designated driver/idiot with a sparkling water all night.....

I also have a mad plan to cut out most carbohydrates for a month. Just want to see if it actually makes a difference to how you feel etc..

Anyone else feel like looking at October as a Lent for non-believers?!?
Couldn't do that, I only drink to remember

Did the same thing 15 months ago.

Bread
pop (soda)
sugary snacks
beer

Just cutting out these simple things and going to the gym for 6 months, changed my life.

But you are better now though? And back on the ale I hope.
I feel incredible now. Never felt this way since my early 20's. Lost 92lbs in total from july last year until end of January this.

My plan was to lose 50lb in 12 months but i absolutely hammered it. The key for me, was i deliberately didn't weigh myself and didn't know how much or little weight i had lost. I just kept going and kept at it. Wasn't so much the weight though but more the look. Since january i have changed my workout and i'm no longer interested in losing weight. Putting weight back on now but its good weight. Building some serious muscle now but it takes up quite a bit of my spare time. Its hard mate.

Yes i'm back on the ale but i tend to stick with Friday or a Saturday night if anything. Can go weeks at a time without ale though. I will have spurts where i don't drink ale for weeks.
