I'll have hit the one month mark on Friday, but I'm starting to really struggle now. Went cold turkey at the start but might need some aids to keep me going.

Has anyone else quit before? What did you use?

Well done thus far. Do you feel there's any specific reason for you to struggle now? You should be well past the physical addiction and only manerism should be an issue (or a drunken misjudgement). Have you tried going for a walk in place of going out for a smoke? Or you could eat carrots or gum or whatever.

I first stopped because I was quite ill then just never bought any after that, so now I'm getting better I think I'm starting to miss it more. Will try the walk thing that sounds like a good idea. Thanks

Mrs Alphonse quit on Monday. Doing brilliant so far. I used the gum when I quit, but the problem is you stay addicted to nicotine. Still go through withdrawal when you give that up. Respect for anyone who can give them up. I tried patches and came out in blisters. I tried an inhaler and nearly poisoned myself with the amount I was using. The lozenges were disgusting. For it to to work you have to really, really, really want to give up. Make it important to you and you can do it. When my first grandson was born I swore he would never see me smoke. He's now six and never has.

I quit for 3 months once and I found chewy worked wonders, although I had to adapt to drinking lager with mint! I did end up having a brand and got irritable if the shop didn't have them like. I'm back on the bifters now but it was a (stupid) conscious decision rather than not being able to quit. Put the money you save in a jar as well and spend it on something nice every month.

I stopped 2 years and 4 months ago mate after 23 years smoking almost. I used patches off the doc for 3 months (supposed to be ), each stage gives you less nicotine but I found after about 5 weeks I didn't use the patches anymore.......one thing I did do was to suck loads of lolipops lol, it kept my hands busy holding them and also replaced having a ciggie in my mouth.......good luck with the quit mate.

*I know somebody will replace the word lolipops for cock lol.

I gave up in Feb this year after 20 odd years on the ciggies & I'd tried literally everything previously, chewing gum, inhaler, patches, champix, hypnotism, the lot. I smoked about 15-20 a day

However, I bought one of those e-lite electronic cigs & I've not had a fag since. I used it solidly for about a month, 'smoking' it as I would a cig & then changed my habits, so I wouldn't use it in the car, I wouldn't pick it up after meal, I'd stay inside the pub rather than going outside etc etc & I used it less & less until I finally stopped using it in April.

I still miss the odd cig, but I'll never have another one.

If you've gone a month you've done the hardest bit, so well done, keep it up, buy an electronic ciggie & see it out. I feel so much better for it, I've put on a stone, but even with the weight I feel 100% better. Good luck.

I've seen plenty of people over here have success with this method

Also remember that nobody likes kissing an ashtray

Allan Carr easy way to stop smoking. Quit in 2007 - never looked back with the slighest craving after being on 20 a day. The only reason youy are struggling is you are waiting for a non existent craving to go away. Your system is clean, its your head that is the problem. Get that book rapidly, I promise you. Physical cravings vanish after a week, 3 tops, you are suffering from a mind trick.

Its late now, and I doubt a bookstore is open, but if you are serious, but grab a piece of paper and jot down why you wanted top stop putting filth into your lungs in the first place. Get back into the frame of mind when you first quit, re-live that experience, it should hold you till you get the book. Stay strong, brother - you didn;t go through all this to [Poor language removed] it up now.
