A young Stoke City fan was left in tears after being hit in the face by a pie during a goal celebration.

The girl was in the away stand at Hillsborough when a supporter chucked a pie in the air after striker Benik Afobe scored his opener just a minute into the game against Sheffield Wednesday.

The pastry, which was still packed in its box, then struck the youngster leaving her in pain and upset.

The incident comes as complaints were raised during the World Cup about football supporters throwing pints when England found the back of the net.

I personally don't think it was intentional

It could very easily have slipped out of the person's hand when they celebrated

Would never happen to me like, I'd protect the pie with my life, but I can see how a slightly drunker and more slender person could allow it to happen
