Steve Clark to become Liverpool assistant manager

I always wonder how much the Assistant does in truth

Did he help Mourinho win stuff / did he help Zola make West Ham rubbish? Did he help out at Newcastle?

Do you think he will be a good thing for Liverpool, I didn't actually notice Lee had gone, or is he still there?

Well, in turn, Mourinho was a number two to Robson and proved invaluable to him. He has a great repuation (like Kidd at United, or Harvey at Everton for that matter) for his coaching skills. Let's put it this way, you'd rather have someone like that around than not have him at all.

Good point. Was he at Chelsea before Mourinho? I have a feeling he was, as I'm sure I was surprised that Jose kept him on, from memory? Also, Ian Dowie or something like that would have made it far more fun for us....

An odd appointment for someone who is only there for the rest of the season, if you believe the official account of how long Kenny will be there for.

Good appointment, means hampster face has been dropped or given the boot.

Cue ultradefensive tactics and nick it 1.0 in the derby

So what happens to Sammy Lee then? Bit strange if you ask me.

Assistants vital? Mick cant do without his...
