I was just thinking after the fume of that result. Recently, well the majority of this new regime under Mr Martinez there has been a lot of talk about statistics in particular of late the short corners etc

The question I am putting out for debate is about the subject of diving/simulation/conning the ref whatever you want to call it in my view it is cheating. However, and its a big however I wonder what the statistics are for teams gaining points from diving etc???? I know how much we hate suarez and today ramires and torres were at it. I know how very very honest Everton are to be fair as we don't tend to have absolute blatant divers in the team however it is and does work for a lot of teams.

So would you sooner have a team that wins more and wins via a dive to win a pen/free kick? or keep plodding on being good old Everton that plays well for 93 minutes but never makes the 'money shot'?

Don't get me wrong I don't condone cheating but I don't see the FA doing anything about the standard of referees or introducing cameras for diving. This used to be a contact sport it isn't anymore.

My heart says I want us to win fair and square with no diving from our players to get an advantage, but my head is saying touch me I go down.

I think evertons biggest problem is that we have been so honest for too long that when we do try going down we are crap at it, get caught, get nothing and look stupid.

Only have to look at Neville and more recently Barkley on a few occasions to see that we either have to get a retired striker with this particular skill on our books or make enough complaints with video evidence to the FA that they have to react!!!!!!

Aye I was going mental but in retrospect he put his leg out and the rest happened.

Yes but also the argument needs raising this is a contact sport, jagielka went for the ball his motion took him that way it would be impossible to move out the way ramires ran in to him. It is a stupid stupid made up rule that attackers can get away with.

Aye, especially when they're making the most of it too. Retrospective action including bans for those diving would stop the problem at once.

Yes but retrospective is all well and good, it needs sorting there and then it would take 20 seconds tops to confirm its a genuine free kick/booking/sending off etc etc

Nah, I wouldn't like the stop start nature personally.

If there's retrospective action being taken against cheats then that's a great deterrent to stop it from happening in the first place.

retrospective action would cut it down a lot in the game in general.

in key sutuations, maybe not. football is so reluctant to give video tech a go though so i wouldn't bank on it any time soon.

basically ban anyone who dives, wherever on the pitch at whatever time for 5 games as a starter, next timee 6 times and so forth. it will make cheats think again.

just because jags had his leg hanging out, jumping into said leg is a dive.

we shouldn't be in a position where a ref has to check virtually every free kick to see if the player has dived, it's unfair on them, they're being conned week in week out by everyone and getting no support, all they can do is give a measly yellow card of which they have to be totally sure about.

it's too weak from all those involved at the top of the sport - it's utterly ridiculous.

with regards to the OP i'd hazard a guess that chelsea, RS and spurs will be at the top of the table, when you see people actually thinking suarez didn't dive vs villa then you've got no chance of actually getting a proper answer.

the big teams playing in Europe have perfected the art of conning the officials with dives and simulated injuries -
Ramirez milked the equalizer against WBA in the 96th minute in a very similar fashion -
today he caught the ref for a sucker again ala Suarez
Everton needs a creative CM , a proper striker and a diving coach if we want to break into the top 4 Europe and beyond -
the game at the top is about conning the ref and showmanship to gain an advantage -
technology needs to be applied extensively to stamp out this criminal behaviour -
no difference between a dive and fraud

if you see how much game time the FA is prepared to be wasted by fake injuries they have no leg to stand on refusing the use of technology to check penalties and fouls -
simply give each team two appeals per half where they can refer the decision to a panel of officials -
if the ref was right the side loses an appeal - if the ref was wrong they keep their 2 appeals-
like in cricket - that way only dubious decisions are referred - and the refs are kept on their toes
