With the scandal of communist East German doping being aired in 1990 when reunified the weekend saw some (not all) details of West German sports doping.

London 2012 said:
The women’s 4x100m relay record was set by East Germany in 1985. It took almost 27 years for the record to be broken by the U.S. team comprised of Carmelita Jeter, Bianca Knight, Allyson Felix, and Tianna Madison at 40.82, almost a one-second improvement.

nobody ever thought it at the time though did they
I mean, they are just so feminine.

Didn't realize that those were women. And even though this is about West Germany I remember as a kid we were laughing about DDR women in sports as they were that masculine. Didn't they also have a few men posing as women or was that just some random eastern european countries?

some have claimed that the steds they gave to them have turned them into fellas

If you legalise doping it is not only daft but certain athletes are better responders than others, so it doesn't even out.
