One of the most poorly structured tax mechanisms finally gets a sensible overhaul.

Smart that they have effectively created a mansion tax for sellers, rather than incumbent occupiers (like Myleene Klass's little old ladies'.

• No tax on the first £125,000 paid
• 2% on the portion up to £250,000
• 5% up to £925,000
• 10% up to £1.5 million
• 12% on everything above that.

I can't see the angle with the airport tax for under 12's and then under 16's. Fuel duty frozen. About time pensions passed onto family was corrected.

Back in 2010 beginning of March me and the missus eventually moved into newly built home. When he sorted the mortage and buying the house in Sept the previous year no stamp duty for houses under 250k. Feb that changed, we had to pay stamp duty and a week after we moved in they bloody got rid of the stamp duty and had no stamp duty for houses under 250k again.

Stung!! Was not happy at all.

Well, this puts the cat amongst the pigeons - Sir Philip Green, chairman of the Arcadia group, alleged silent partner in Everton FC and all around Alleged tax avoiding ratbag. Topshop, topman, BHS, Wallis, Evans, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins & Outfit are part of Arcadias portfolio. Could this move against tax avoidance see a few clubs board members get a little bit twitchy?
