Moomin

Player Valuation: £90m
Another attack on a youngster from the close i live on yesterday, is it just time we had a complete ban on these type of dogs in the country. They are wild and savage.

No mate, it's the owners not the dogs. If the dog is brought up and trained properly it would be fine. Some people shouldn't have dogs. Don't blame the breed the breed is irrelevant.

In the 70's it was German shephards, 80's Dobermans, 90's Rottweilers, now it's staffies. It's not the dog's.

The first dog I ever had was a Staffie cross, brilliant dog, used to guard my kids pram and once freed a load of rabbits from a pen in the pet shop, absolute legend of a dog, we got him in 1980.
We are on our second Border Collie since as we like the breed but when we did a search of the rescue centres for a pup about 3 years ago, all they had were Staffies. They said that all these youths were buying them as status pets, but once they realised that they had to actually look after them, they just turned them loose.
Pit Bulls are banned aren't they? However I think its really difficult to tell it is an actual pitbull.
I agree that its the owners that turn them vicious.

All dogs should be microchipped.

All dogs should be treated as a weapon in the eyes of the law in and sentences in line with manslaughter and gbh handed out to owners.

OH MY G0D! this is worse than transfer rumour threads...i think there has been approxiamtely 57 threads about dogs, which ahve all been locked...it appears people have somewhat differing opinions on this..!

edit -just seen its a moomin thread, obvious wind up is obvious

It's the owners not the dogs, but we can't trust the owners so sadly I think the dogs should be banned which is a shame for the majority of the population and the dogs themselves but dickheads will be dickheads and children will die.

also arn't they already banned?

The title of this thread illustrates the ignorance about these breeds. There is no such animal as a Staffordshire Pit Bull. There is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier which is an extremely friendly dog around humans (none more reliable) and a bit of a menace with other dogs (on the whole there are exceptions). Then there is an American Pit Bull a dog bred for aggression and to be an attack dog, these are banned in the UK. The problem is that unscrupulous breeders are crossing these breeds to appeal to an element who want something a bit more vicious than your average Staffie.
