This summer's tournament will be Sweden's 5th appearance at a European Championships, their first appearance was as hosts in 1992. Erik Hamrén's side will be looking to improve on their performance in '08 which saw them crash out in the group stage like a poorly assembled Ikea bedframe.

The Swedes qualified for the finals second in their group behind Holland, and avoided the playoffs as the best placed runners up. The won eight of their ten games, losing only to Holland and Hungary, beating neighbours Finland twice in the process. Sorry Finners FFS, club them next time lad. The campaign ended on a high with a 3-2 victory against Holland at home with big sulky git/RFUS's teenage crush Zlatan Ibrahimović finishing top scorer with five goals to his name.

This year's squad features three English based players with WBA's Jonas Olsson, Blackburn's Martin Olsson and Sunderland's Seb Larsson making up the triumverate of averageness. Andreas Isaksson will most likely be a busy man between the sticks, and the Swede's will hope he lives up to his Footy Manager 08 reputation as opposed to his actual form for Man City back in the days when they were poor both on and off the field. Olof Mellberg will have to be at his Vikingy best up against the likes of Benzema, Wellbeck and Shevchenko. Kim Källström, another FM gem, will supply the flair in midfield.

Jock's player to watch is Zlat. The hopes of the Swedish nation rest on the shoulders of the tall forward, and on his day, you can see why he makes Rufus jizz, he's a world beater. Hopefully he'll turn up and perform, at least against England (sorry, couldn't resist any longer)

Prediction
Group stage. France and England will have too much for them. Straight shoot out between the elk molesters and the crazy racist hosts for third in the group.
