Seems a few people have been hit with 80 quid fines for dropping fag ends on the pavement. Not like there's many ash trays around for people to put them out in and not the kind of thing you'd carry around till you seen a bin. Is this justified or would you rather your tax money go on something else than a grass's wages standing about waiting for someone to drop a cig?

Saw a lad getting a ticket a few weeks ago in New Brighton for (allegedly) dropping a ciggy butt.

What I don't get is why they don't class the ciggy ash as litter?

What?! There are cig disposal things on the side of countless buildings, and on many lampposts too.

Stub it out on a wall, throw it in the bin. Can't find a bin? Stick it in your pocket, it's your litter, you deal with it.

Littering of any kind is deplorable. Something this city is terrible for. I've had many a scally start on me for pulling him up about littering. It's the arrogance I can't stand.

Spot on, litter is litter and should be put in a bin or kept until one can be found.

I've had similar experiences when I've pulled someone about dropping stuff. The City centre at the weekend is a disgrace. Imagine how much money the council would save if they didn't have to employ all night crews to clean up every weekend.
