Not to wallow in tonights misery, but one thing which the RS had today was a strong spine. Adrian, Gomez, Lallana and Origi ruled the middle of the park and each one of them controlled their area of the pitch. And this is their B team's spine!
Look at us. Pickford, Mina, Schneiderlin and DCL. Makes for grim reading and we wonder why we looked like a pub team.
The very First thing Carlo needs to do is to rectify this, easier said than done. A top GK, CB, DM (Gbanim could be the man) and Striker are a must.
Get this right and you can accommodate your average players such as Bernards/Iwobi's, and upgrade them over time.
This of course, is trusting he is given the funds!

That spine of the rs you mentioned is absolutely crap (apart from Gomez) yet they are miles ahead of ours.

Its just proper grim mate, proper struggling to comprehend how bad today was.

They just have no pride as professional footballers, let alone pride to play for Everton.

They are just not arsed.

Would upgrade on Pickford and Mina, for me Mina is a squad player and Pickford is overrated.

Spine of the team is abysmal. I could make an argument for two new centre halves and two new centre mids. No leaders in key positions. All looking to someone else for inspiration.

But we dont have unlimited funds brother - say we sign a quality CF, CM and CB that's £100-130 million alone.

Add in another CB, GK, RW and you're talking fantasy figures.

Facts are Pickford & Mina are not perfect but they are the least of our worries right now. Our aim over the next 2 windows should be this:

1. CM
2. CF
3 CB

4. RW
5. Back up GK to push Pickford

Then after that in the following seasons if Pickford and Mina etc are still struggling then upgrade - but these next 2 windows is all about improving the gaping weaknesses and they are not those two.

We agree on the aim. I would have looked at breaking even with Pickford's replacement. A taller, more commanding goalkeeper. Pickford will fetch more than he's worth due to his England status alone.
