Spending League Table

There are all sorts of ways that the big clubs can beat the system. I think we're seeing a sharp rise in transfer fees at the moment though, especially for British players, because they're afraid of being left behind during the period of grace. I'd imagine that it will be a blip. It does make you think whether we should move Rodwell on now though, because it would set us up for about three years and we could miss out big time otherwise if this is the end of transfer fees of that magnitude.
I agree mate,to me this summer "fashion statement" for big clubs is a move for a young lad, preferabbly for huge cash that won't last,so yes i do think,if the right offer came along we should cash in on Rodwell, clearly the club is hamstrung for cash so sell him,but Moyes has to be given some of the resulting cash and frankly i fear the board has become so moribound they wont, but time will tell.

Ian Danter a well respected jorno in the Midlands just been on Talksport saying that Alex Mcleish has told him he will only be allowed to bring one more player in.

Villa have sold Downing and Young for around £36m and signed a keeper for £3.5m lets they sign Parker or Nzogbia for £10m thats still another £23m going out of the club and not getting put back into the team.

And people were crying because we never got Randy Learner at Goodison eh , If you think we have it bad just look around at others.

But surely you'd compare net spends of various clubs over a period of time...2 or 3 seasons, or the statistics could be misleading. And we don't want to mislead fellow Evertonians, Dixie.

It depends how long you want to go back i suppose.

In the last year June 10 to June 11 or there abouts Villa have sold Downing £20m, Young £16m, and Milner £24m that's £60m on three players and i think they have signed Ireland ( valued at £10m ) Bent £19m and Makoun £6m thats roughly £60m in and £35m out.

Im no financial adviser but that dosnt strike me as a chairman supporting the manager.

They have also lost Reo Coker and Carew who need replacing.

An objective comparison would start when Lerner too over Villa, but clearly you can skew statistics to suit an agenda.

For instance when Everton sign some no mark for £2.5M last week of August our net spend will be £2.5M more than Liverpool in the same period.

I dont want Emile Heskey anywhere near our squad thanks. O'neill bought crocks and wasters. Houllier was overcome with the task to the extent it hospitalised him. Mcleish is in for a rough ride if things start badly, and Bent wont keep them running on his own. Villa fans remember 'Deadly Doug', I wonder if now it is with some fondness.

Radzinski made a similar snide dig before he went to Fulham about the signings of Tim Cahill (£1.8 mill) and Marcus Bent (£450k) and suggested the club had no ambition. That season we achieved our highest ever prem finish. I'd happily take a team of so called ''no marks'' that are prepared to graft and work together instead of all the fancy dan foreign types interested in a quick buck and the local nightlife. Radzinski disappeared up his own backside. Good riddance.

There's a myth that everyone else is spending to catch up, while we're standing still. The idea of the table is evidence-gathering to support the hypothesis that the majority of clubs will spend very little, if anything during this window. So, it's not relevant for me to look at historical spending.
