Spare what.
No. Well...it depends.
I certainly wish I had more free time to see my daughter. Genuinely, that is a very big emotional regret for me. I leave the house at 7am about 10 minutes after she has woken up. I'm usually getting back in the house about 6pm and I have enough time to bath her, put her jim-jams on and get her down for a sleep by 7pm. After that, the wife and I sit with tea and I mark, plan or write reports (which allows me an excuse to come on here for a brief time) until maybe 10pm or so. I get into bed after I have about an hour or so on here before settling down for a kip and starting all over again.
Meaning I get about a quality 30 mins a day with my daughter. I can't really talk to my wife as I am focusing on getting stuff right and that's pretty much repeated every night. I like the career, but the paperwork, the demands, the legal ramification and the constant over-your-shoulder ethos is really stressful at times. I understand I am in a position of great responsibility, but that often comes with little to no trust from those who give you that responsibility - parents, senior leaders, the flipping government, etc.
It's a job, nowadays, where you have to be a teacher, a psychologist, a social worker, an events planner, a sports coach, an administrator, a computer technician, etc.
I could imagine teaching being very stressful!!
