La Liga strike called off: Barcelona can now win title

Barcelona can win the league title with a game to spare if they beat champions Atletico Madrid on Sunday
The Spanish football season will be allowed to finish after the week-long Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) suspension and players' strike ended.

After Spain's High Court ruled the players' strike over a TV rights dispute was unlawful, the RFEF reversed a suspension of the end of the season.

Barcelona can win La Liga on Sunday, with a game to spare, if they beat current champions Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish Cup final will also go ahead as planned on 30 May.

Barca, who have also reached the Champions League finalwhere they will take on Juventus, play Athletic Bilbao at the Nou Camp in the domestic Copa del Rey final.

Spanish football writer Andy West explains the dispute:
"Essentially, the suspension was the result of a power struggle over who runs Spanish football. More specifically, it is the climax of a long-running dispute over the distribution of television revenue, which is currently heavily weighted in favour of the 'Big Two' of Barcelona and Real Madrid." Read more here.
The RFEF and the players' union (AFE) are not satisfied with a new law introducing collective bargaining for domestic television rights, which was supported by the National Professional Football League (LFP) which runs Spain's top two professional divisions.

The players who backed a proposed strike believe the split of money in a new dealproposed by the LFP and the Spanish government does not do enough for those at lower-ranked clubs.

On Friday, LFP president Javier Tebas announced plans to take legal action against the suspension, warning that it could cost 50 million euros (£36m) per match day in lost revenues.

Hang on, why don't the new proposals do enough for lower-ranked clubs?

Won't this new rule give them a bigger share of TV revenue than they are already getting?
But even if you treble f-all it's still a woeful amount. The big two get about 12 times what the cannon fodder in la liga get. Even if the do double or treble what the minnows get it's still a disgrace and keeps the league very similar to where it is now.

So what do they want?

More money for them and less for The Classico sides? There's no way that Royal Madrid will sit idily by while Levante and Osasuna get a bigger slice of the pie than them. No way

Man city made about 20 million more than mid table clubs last season. UEFA should tell the big two to pipe down and make their league money distribution fairer.

20 million more from TV money or from winning the league itself?

And to make it fair, you'd make it an even split between everyone
20 million was TV money difference I believe. City got more as they get more on top of base for being live on TV. And tbh I agree it should be a straight split as the RS get way more money than clubs near them in the league as they're put on TV more than they deserve, just like their ex players.

It's the 90/10 split with Segunda at issue along with revenue sharing with the players union
