Sociedad v Santander (called off)

Even though not being paid for 3 months probably puts the players in Spain's 1% now, the players should be applauded for their patience.

Patience??

All footballers are very much over paid. I'm sure the millions in each of their bank accounts explain the patience. Obviously still able to pay bills and live life

If they were on 600 quid a week like us average joes, with some living pay cheque to pay cheque, the patience wouldn't be there.

Well, Santander are a 3rd tier side these days, and some of them are living pay cheque to pay cheque, in fact I'm sure one of them even had to sleep at the stadium.

yea these are middle class footballers if even that as I'm assuming Spain's 3rd tier doesn't make what a player at say Tranmere makes.

The second and third tier players in Spain earn less than their counterparts in England, I seem to remember reading. One reason players like Michu play for the likes of Swansea is that the Swans pay much better than, say, Getafe or Betis.

Me, I feel really sorry for the players and fans of Racing. I've been to Santander and loved it and its people. It's Seve country, too. He learned to play golf on the beaches of Santander.

But why wait until after the kick off. Go through the motions of a typical matchday. All that effort from both teams and even to the running of the club, in and around a typical stadium on a matchday to just do that at kick off?

Forfeit the match the day before and save the hassle. Can you do this or is there some rule where you have to actually start the game

They wanted the board to resign. They'd said the wek before in a press conference that they wouldn't play if the president and board didn't go. Not sure about starting the match. I'm sure La Real had to turn up to get a bye into the semis otherwise the clowns in the Spanish federation would probably have set another date for the match and fined both clubs.

Thought I read somewhere that if they don't take the field the players/staff are liable to be punished but if they do & the game starts then it's the club that cops it.

Not sure if true though.
