Keeps a good pint. They started brewing their own as well under the name Howzat. The couple I've tried were spot on.

Best pub in St.Helens bar none. I always call in if I go into town.
Turks Head is a good shout also @PhilM

It's rare that I go into St.Helens, but those two are always on the cards when I do.

There's only about a ten minute stroll between the two (less if you walk at pace), so we would frequent both on a Friday night if we were up that way.

If there was enough of us, a taxi back to South Liverpool wasn't too bad either.

The George by the station is good as well, the interior is a bit dated but the ale was spot on when I went. You get CAMRA discount if you’re a member.

Last time I went there (about 3 years ago) I didn't get out until 8 AM the next day. :eek:

No mate, Wavertree born and bred , emigrated to the Wirral 30 years ago. I’ve a friend in Thatto Heath and went to The George when I went to watch St.Helens Town play Lower Breck when we didn’t have a game.
