I'm dead confused, so I thought I'd put my observations down to invite comments and corrections.
GOT is basically a friendly place where people with an interest in Liverpool's foremost team, the mighty Everton, log on to rip each other apart.
There are factions. Some say that there is a clique, though they deny one exists and they are just a bunch of very frandly people. Frandly that is, unless you are a 'danger' . Like those that belong to the 'not a clique' the dangers seem unaware that they associate with such a word, which, to the best of my knowledge, originated from an ongoing and slightly unsavoury interest in dogs - but not as pets.
The dangers faction seem to spend a lot of time winding up the non-clique, simply, it seems by existing. The non-clique wind up the dangers by routing out multis like Tony Blair routed out weapons of mass destruction - which is why - if you're new, you've been through the Spanish Inquisition - which you wouldn't have expected, just for signing up to a football forum. Both factions (although one of them doesn't exist) spend most of their time trying to get one another banned. There are some posters who try to get themselves banned. There are some posters who make multis to like their own comments, and some who make multis just to dislike other people's opinions without having to explain.
These two groups go hammer and tongues, like the Montacutes and Capulets. Perhaps one day, a member from one will teach the other that there can be love that does not have to involve a collar and a chain.
Two other long standing factions are those who enjoy a good pizza and those who do not; team PoP.
Of course, like any forum there are the Mods. I imagine them all staring at computer screens, GOT mug next to them on the desk, having to read through millions of lines of blather, slowly developing the kind of twitch chief inspector Dreyfuss developed, trying to understand what was going on. I feel for them. They're all a reasonable and intelligent bunch it seems - and hold it all together, in the face of daily weapons grade, ocean going GOT lunacy.
And then there are the rest. Those who don't get into fights. Those who like a bit of fun and humour and manage it without cheesing off everybody else. Amongst these I'd the great thread creator, @summerisle . I know nothing of this chap, but my imagination paints a picture of a kindly man with grey hair, who awakes each morning with a magical thought. He researches that thought, cogitates, lets it hatch and spread its wings, and then releases it into the GOT ethers to find its own destiny.
So far nobody has been able to draw up a satisfactory Venn Diagram showing which of the dangers, non-clique, pizza lovers, team PoP and normals overlap. Suffice it to say, that if you drew a large circle around the entire Venn Diagram encompassing GOT opinion in its entirety, then outside of the circle would be one name floating serenely in its own blissful infinite space - the venerable and unique GOT imahineer, ploughing its own furrow, that is @davek .
What have I missed?
