So now it turns out that multiple tests by Halliburton before the Gulf Oil disaster were not passed on and acted upon by Halliburton

(which the US media ignored in the summer...)

And with Obama ready to point the blame at "BRITISH" Petroleum (despite BP being "Beyond Petroleum" and 40% UK 40% US and 20% rest of the world shareholders, and more USA employees than UK).

BP oil spill: Obama comments 'not anti-British'

Barack Obama is playing dirty over BP. That's probably a good thing
Obama's general tone since assuming the presidency in 2009 has been disturbingly lofty for my taste. A bit of Brit-bashing makes short-term electoral sense

SO MR PRESIDENT OBAMA. AND THOSE LOOKING TO "KICK SOME BUTT" OF THE "BRITISH" PETROLEUM...

IS THE US MEDIA GOING TO DO THE SAME WITCH HUNT FOR - HALLIBURTON - the perceived AMERICAN COMPANY NOW?

Because sitting here I can say to our American friends (and I love the country) by pinning the blame so early he offended me and many here in the UK.

And the problem is the US media won't go back and rewrite what actually happened, considering HALLIBURTON were to blame and knew there was a fault!!!!

Sorry like but I'm still angry about this. And Obama brought his office into disrepute pointing fingers so early like he did - because it was convenient to blame the "foreigners"

He didn't offend me. President Obama was playing politics. I believe that's what politicians do.

Very naive, Damon.

His repeated comments associating this as "BRITISH" were obvious and disgraceful.

He should again apologise.

And the US media should not pander and tell the truth which was blanketed out over the summer. That Halliburton had a MAJOR involvement in what happened.

And that this was not a "BRITISH" oil spill which he deliberately implied in the US media. (see above video).

I'd love our American friend's to comment here. I'd love to know what average Joe in America thinks. Do they still think this was an exclusively "BRITISH" disaster?

Do they even know of the MAJOR (decisive?) role of Halliburton in causing this disaster?

I felt it was quite naive of Obama to take the route he did. Came close to ruining BP on the back of misinformation and very lazy finger pointing, just to show America he was 'doing something about it'.

We won't see any back-tracking here though, he'll continue to play his 'politics'

Smart Americans know the truth, they also know Obama is a puppet.. I wont apologise for him, because I didn't vote for him..

He is not the bees knees everyone thought he would be, just another shallow self serving politician. He does owe BP an apology though...

Halliburton are richer than some countries...

YES COUNTRIES!!!

They could buy a country....WTF???

I want one.

Damon,

You're outrage is misplaced. We're in the throes of an election. I haven't hear the words "BP" mention in long time. Also, you should know that Halliburton isn't exactly many American's favorite company either. Finally, are you insinuating that BP bears NO responsibility for the disaster? I wonder what the reaction of Joe UK would be if an American company did this in the North Sea or something. There'd be American flags burning everywhere.

If you want to add Halliburton to the list of people to blame, well they've been on my list since the beginning. But that doesn't mean BP is guiltless here.

Where in that interview is the word "British" even mentioned? I didn't hear it once.

In a letter to the oil spill commission, investigator Fred Bartlit said that the cement mixture used on the well was subpar, failing three of four lab tests prior to the explosion.

In the letter, Bartlitt and fellow investigators write that Transocean and BP chose not to conduct necessary tests to ensure the integrity of the cement prior to Apr. 20 blowout. Specifically, the well had failed cement foam slurry tests in the preceding weeks, and further, a test performed the night of Apr. 19 had not yet been read.

It's hard to comment on this with only bits on information, but the 5 minutes I spent reading on the subject shows blame on both ends.

Who hired Halliburton? I wouldn't work with a company that has a website dedicated to documenting alleged criminal activity.

Firm admits skipping oil well test
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21/20101029/tuk-firm-admits-skipping-oil-well-test-6323e80.html
Contractor Halliburton has admitted that it skipped a crucial test on the final formulation of cement used to seal the BP oil well that blew out in the Gulf of Mexico.

The company, which was BP's cementing contractor, said BP at the last minute increased the amount of a critical ingredient in the cement mix. And while an earlier test showed the cement was stable, the company never performed a stability test on the new blend.

The cement's failure to prevent oil and gas from entering the Deepwater Horizon well has been identified as one of the causes of the April 20 disaster which killed 11 workers and led to the largest offshore oil spill in US history.

Halliburton made the admission in a six-page statement issued in response to findings by US president Barack Obama's oil spill commission.

OBAMA STANDS UP AND IMPLIES THIS DISASTER WAS "ALL BRITAINS' FAULT" AND HOW HE WAS GOING TO KICK "BRITISH PETROLEUM'S" BUTT

...

And it turns out THE AMERICAN company that was contracted to do the safety tests NEVER DID IT!

...

NO OUTRAGE THIS OCCASION.

....

I see what you did there. And it's sickening.

One rule for one. Another for everyone else. All people, companies and institutions, but some are more equal than others... if you're considered BRITISH you're fair game it seems.

Makes me sick.
