Slovakia vs Armenia

So Slovakia did alright at the World Cup.

They've some decent players. Hamsik, Weiss, Skrtel and of course our very own bench warmer Mucha in goal....

So.....4-0 to Armenia.

I don't even know where Armenia is.

Boss news for Ireland. I was working out the tables thinking as we're a point clear we should be fine. I forgot they also had to play tonight.

Thankfully Armenia are helping us out big time. Not only by winning, but by bumming their goal difference, which at this moment means Ireland's is +7.

Ah... another oversight by me. Armenia have actually overtaken Slovakia now so they're also a point behind us. But their goal difference is a gargantuan +10, and thus well better than Ireland's.

Still, our fate is in our own hands I think. If we beat Armenia and Andorra we will finish at least 2nd. I'm assuming that means you still have to have a 2 legged qualifier though? Hopefully if we do get to that stage, it goes better than the one against France. =S

If we finish level on points with either (unless Armenia beat us 2-0 or something) we will be ahead of them, regardless of goal difference.

The real question is what we want to happen in the Slovakia-Russia game. A Russian win practically guarantees us a play-off place (assuming we beat Andorra and get at least a draw with Armenia), but a Slovakian win means we can win the group by beating Armenia. However, if we draw with Armenia in that instance (which is very possible on recent performances) we would miss out altogether.

I'll be hoping for a Slovakian win, because for me we're more likely to beat Armenia in Dublin than to beat Turkey or Sweden over two legs.
