working nights is a killer. I sleep about 4 hours inbetween shifts then sometimes all day on my days off or not at all.

nights cant be any good for long term health.
 
used to only sleep 6 hrs max, if I have to be up then manage it no probs and still only go to bed at 1.

Shift Work particularly night on rotating shifts really screwed me up though, only had 1 job where I had to do nights and didn't enjoy it but the way we did it didn't help.

12 hr shifts with hr each way travel, worked Mon,Tues,Fri,Sat,Sun,Wed,Thurs it was the constant readjusting that hammered me.

My old man did rotating shifts for over 20 years, can't say for sure, but am pretty certain it contributed to a number of health conditions which ultimately caused death in his early 60's...
 
I'm working the night shift atm, did all my work and got absolutely nothing left to do until 6:30. It's torture. And then if something urgent happens that I need to take care of, I'll need to go from barely awake mode into hugely stressed mode in about 30 seconds.

At least I always sleep like a baby when I get home, from 7 until around 2 in the afternoon.

What's worse though is the weekend, as on Monday my shift starts at 06:30 in the morning, so need to adjust pretty quickly. I'll usually just sleep 2 or 3 hours only on Friday morning so that I'm exhausted at night.

Definitely not healthy.
 
The iPhone steals sleep from me. I find myself in bed by 10 or 11 and I start effing around on my iPhone and it's 2 am before I even realize it. Ahh dammit, it's happening as I type this.
 

Seventh can of Guinness has just gone down. When I put this blasted iPhone down, I will be asleep within five minutes. I probably won't wake up for twelve hours either.
 
Takes me a long time to get to sleep, sometimes just watching the clock counting down the hours till I have to get up, i'll try flux though, cheers for posting the link.
 
I wear earplugs and an eye mask. Complete sensory deprivation and I sleep like a rock.

I also find reducing the time you spend inhaling cocaine and masturbating til dawn to Lindsay Lohan slipnips to also be of assistance.
